Japan 2005
I spent about 2 weeks in Kariya, Japan in June 2005 visiting Eton when he was there for work training for 4 weeks. We went to Nagoya a couple of times and we also spent a weekend in Osaka. Eton had his birthday in Kariya - keke... that's the main reason why Vivian was visiting. Although Eton was at work most of the time (long working hours too) but I still found the time there very enjoyable. I just loved browsing around during the day and did a few short trips to the towns closeby on my own.

名古屋 (Nagoya)
We went to Nagoya for dinner & a little browsing around after Eton finished work at Kariya on Friday - first Friday I was there. We could not decide where to go for dinner and ended up going to one local restaurant in Osu (大須). The food was quite nice. We then also tried the very famous Takuyaki ... it was just delicious!
Eton食天掃羅定食,我食鰻魚飯.好味!

Kariya to Osaka
We left early from Kariya to catch a train to Nagoya, from there we caught the Shinkasen to Shin-Osaka!
(L1) Photo of train tickets & photos of us inside Shinkasen. Can you see us bypassing Kyoto?
Lunch At Shin-Osaka Station
After we arrived at Shin-Osaka station, we had lunch at a Udon cafe. Eton tried a curry base udon & I just had plain beef soup base - very tasty indeed.
Day Tour in Osaka - Osaka Castle, Kuromon Market, Denden Town, Amerikamuru and Doudonbori
We visited the Osaka Castle, then walked to one of the many temples (Below L1)
We also made a trip to Kuromon Market. (Below L2-4)
We spent the whole afternoon browsing & wandering around in Osaka. We went to Denden town (L1) & we bought a digital camera there. We also went to Amerikamuru (L2). By evening, we were at Doutonbori (道頓堀).
Yummy Food - Takoyaki, Okonomiyaki, Green Tea Ice-cream & Crepe!
We were constantly eating (no wonder we put on weight after the trip). Takoyaki of course was on top of the list... we just loved it & we tried many different types of Takoyaki! We had a trial at Kuromon Market, we also tried the ones with soup at Doutonbori. We both preferred the ones without soup.
Okonomiyaki was our favorite too.
I was really full by end of the day but just could not resist the temptation of Green Tea Ice-cream (L) & the very yummy crepe (R).

Osaka to Izumisano
We caught a local train to Izumisano from Osaka. We were planning to go to the factory outlet for clothes shopping but got off at the wrong stop :( Nevermind, we still enjoyed our day. We had a fabulous lunch cooking our own Okonomiyaki in one of the local restaurant. We also spent sometime browsing around in this little town of Izumisano. Interesting!!!

We then returned to Shin-Osaka Station & did a bit of window shopping before we caught the Shinkasen back home. Can you see the sponge cake roll upthere... a lot of people were lining up for it. I also had a trial of a red-bean green tea puff (紅豆綠茶).
